Whether it’s an industry event, a critical business presentation, or an important social gathering, looking and feeling your best on the day itself is crucial. Believe me when I say that I’ve experienced my fair share of inconvenient breakouts during significant moments in my career. There’s nothing more distressing than that! Consequently, I’ve made it a priority to follow a specific skincare routine a few days before any major event. From booking a facial to incorporating cryotherapy, taking these proactive steps to ensure my skin is in tip-top shape has become a nonnegotiable routine that significantly boosts my confidence. Now, I am revealing my secret skin prep rituals so you can do the same before your next big gig.

Day Before

Facial
Whenever possible, I always try to squeeze in a facial in the days leading up to an event. My best recommendation is to book an esthetician you wholeheartedly trust (and ideally a clinic that you have already been to before). Personally, Joanna Czech is my preferred destination for all facial treatments. Whether it’s addressing inflammation and hyperpigmentation through LED therapy or enjoying facial massages with carefully curated oils and serums to enhance my natural glow, I emerge confident that my skin is in optimal condition for any crucial moment.

Hyaluronic Acid

In my regular skincare routine, hyaluronic acid is a staple, but I’ve come to appreciate its significance even more in the lead-up to significant events. The evening before a big day, I consistently include a hyaluronic acid serum in my regimen. This not only provides deep hydration to the skin but also soothes any lingering skin irritation, ensuring that I wake up with a beautiful and healthy complexion. Among my all-time favorites is the SkinCeuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a treatment that you can do in the comfort of your own home. Using a facial razor or a more advanced tool like the Dermaflash, this process entails delicately removing the outermost layer of skin. This not only removes any peach fuzz but also effectively rids the skin of dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. It’s essential to exercise gentleness and patience to avoid skin irritation and prevent breakouts. Not only is this great for exfoliation, but removing peach fuzz also means smoother application of makeup!

Day Of

Cyrotherapy

On the morning of, I reach for my at-home cryotherapy tools. With various options available on the market, including globes, facial masks, and massagers, cryotherapy proves to be a fantastic addition to any skincare routine. Regardless of your chosen tool, the cold application works wonders for the skin, providing immediate depuffing, pore-shrinking, and skin-firming benefits. Not to mention, it’s a great way to wake up the body after a restful night’s sleep.

NuFace

Following any ice treatment, I like to follow up with the NuFace as the last of my skin prep rituals. If you haven’t heard about this device yet, it’s a handheld machine that employs microcurrent technology to tighten the skin and enhance collagen production. Beyond these benefits, NuFace visibly sharpens and defines facial contours, and the results are immediately noticeable. It adds that extra touch to ensure my skin is not only prepped but also radiates a lifted and rejuvenated appearance.
