I‘m currently in Palm Springs, soaking up the sun, which got me thinking about how I have always adored west coast girls for their beautifully bronze complexion. Although us east coast girls don’t have the luxury of the beach at our finger tips, we do have one thing that can fake the same radiant and healthy tinted skin. Enter self-tanners! I have talked about a few of my favorite self-tanners on the blog, but realized I never made a dedicated post about them. Since I use these products quite often, I wanted to share my top 5 self-tanners I swear by and how to best apply them!

I value self-tanners because they come without the price of sun damage. My favorites below are easy to apply and fade evenly. Most importantly, you’ll look like you spent a weekend at the beach! Here they are:

1 Tarte Brazilliance Self-Tanner

I have always raved about Tarte’s self-tanner and it’s the one I use the most. Aside from Tarte’s ability to make healthy, luxe beauty products, this self-tanner leaves your skin bronzer and smoother without the damage that comes from the sun. Be sure to use the application mitt that comes with it because it’ll help cover well and dry fast. In terms of color pay-off, you’ll enjoy a deep golden glow!

2 Tan-Luxe The Body & The FaceIlluminating Self-Tan Drops

Next runner up are these two beauties from Tan-Luxe. I was introduced to this brand over a year ago and was so impressed by the results. You can try the body drops or face drops to enhance your complexion – I’ve used both and they’re equally stellar. What you get are liquid drops that you can mix into your moisturizer for a sun-kissed tint. I love that these are oil-based so you get a nice glow along with color in a matter of hours. It is pricey but they ingredients are high quality and nontoxic on the skin. It’s also a huge bonus that I can apply them and carry on my day as usual rather than wait around.

3 Coola Sunless Tan Dry Body Oil Mist

Looking to be hands-free? You’ll love this one from Coola. It’s an organic mist infused with aloe and argan oil that goes on streak-free and leaves your skin softer and silky smooth. The golden color is on par with the two above; however, it isn’t as long lasting – but it fades well and is worth it unless you’re into super duper tan skin.

4 Josie Maran Argan Liquid Gold Self-Tanning Oil

If you don’t like the smell of self-tanners, you’ll love Josie Maran’s tanning oil. The oil formulation makes it so easy to use and spread evenly. I love that it’s not too orange or red once it dries; however, it does build very gradually, which may not be best for those seeking instantaneous results. But that helps to eliminate the possibility of streaking or uneven color.

5 Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer

For drugstore, budget-friendly option, there is nothing better than Jergen’s Natural Glow moisturizer. It builds the slightest bit of color while the firming properties decrease the appearance of cellulite. Don’t expect a ton of color but you get a sheered out, natural glow. For girls who want healthy looking skin and an even complexion, this is your best and cheapest bet.
