Cable knit, ribbed, cashmere – no matter what kind of sweater it is, it doesn’t take much to convince me I need another one in my collection. This time of year, you can catch me living in knits galore and I am always trying to find new, innovative ways to style my various sweaters. Every year, there are more; trendy options that are peppered into everyday assortments. However, we have to give credit to more classic styles too! Update your OOTD game with these different sweater styles.

Contemporary Graphic

This season, you may want to consider straying away from solid knits and delve more into the graphic printed versions for a fresh take. In particular, I have a fondness for more indistinctive, contemporary prints because it adds a certain air of modernity. Patterns such as dots, vertical lines and geometrics are really fun to style with more basic bottoms, such as jeans, or with more elevated skirts in complementary patterns and colors.

Puff Shoulder

Sometimes a little volume can go a long way. Consider your basic crew neck sweater in a solid neutral. Now, add a puff sleeve to this otherwise ordinary top and you instantly achieve a much more chic and in style version. This little sleeve detail may be minute but can have a large impact on the overall look.

I love pairing this top with high-waisted bottoms, including maxi skirts. It’s so fun yet comfortable, especially when you bring colors into the outfit.

One Shoulder

One of the more feminine sweater versions is definitely the one shoulder – 0r one-shoulder cutout – silhouette. You can play up the femininity of this type of sweater by accenting it with a statement necklace. Or keep your jewelry minimum for a much more clean aesthetic. Whether you opt for a fitted knit or a slouchy sweater, the sliver of skin always looks so sexy without being too much.

Open Back Sweater

The sweater I saw crop up on the streets of fashion week was the open back style. For me, it’s such a chic and understated alternative to bare a little skin without being over the top sexy. You can wear it with a backless bra or pair it with a lace bralette.

Utility Sweater

On the other hand, if you are looking to achieve a much more industrial, rugged outfit, the utility sweater is the right match for you. This could really be anything with large, statement pockets, drawstrings or zippers – typically in more boxy cuts. These utility sweaters are perfect for achieving a streetwear inspired look.

Fair Isle Sweater

Sweaters can end up looking pretty redundant in neutral colors or even basic stripes. That’s why changing it up with fair isle knits are amazing. They add the coziness factor with a classic design to spruce it up.

I love how the colorful stripes going across the neckline channels that apres ski vibe – and it’s perfect for everyday. All you need to do is add some hiker boots (also on trend this season), fuzzy socks, and a beanie.
