I am sure you are all aware by now that Ultra Violet was announced as Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2018. Thus, we have been seeing this deep, rich shade incorporated into the world of design and fashion. However, I truly think this color is far from fleeting and should continue to be worn beyond this calendar year. If you are a longtime reader of NotJessFashion, you know I certainly do not have any trouble wearing vibrant and bright colors no matter the month or season. However, I know a lot of people struggle with how to do so.

This post is for you as I share 4 different purple outfits that will hopefully inspire you to incorporate more of this unexpected hue into your long-term wardrobe.

An easy way to wear a brighter color is opt for a dress, as it is a complete outfit in itself. If this particular wrap dress is a bit dramatic for your tastes, try and go for a violet version in a shorter cut. Having a purple dress in your arsenal is definitely a must! It is a great option for any event and this amethyst shade is a magical color that works all year round.

You can choose a more classic silhouette, such as these trousers, and get it in a purple shade. Face it, these particular pants will never go out of style, allowing you to keep it within your wardrobe for a long time. Selecting a piece you already know how to wear is a great way to try out a new color. Trousers are naturally a masculine piece, so if your style is girly, then you have nothing to lose when it comes to a purple pair of tailored pants. Personally, I will never let go of these lilac pants!

If you are like me, you might be wondering why you would even stop at just one purple piece?! Violet is such a beautiful color so let’s embrace it and celebrate 2018’s color of the year. I have stacked on all of my favorite purple items into this one outfit – including accessories! I absolutely love the lilac contrasted against the darker shade of purple. Since we’re moving into warmer weather you can try a monochromatic outfit that includes pieces like denim jackets, a light blouse, and skirt. You will certainly be catching me wearing these pieces together and separately for a long time!

A purple statement jacket is ideal for when you want to layer a bit more color onto your look. In this particular outfit, I kept it simple and edgy but draped the coat over my shoulder to add color and a contrast of fabrics. If you are someone who usually sticks to neutral colors, violet outerwear is perfect for you because it gives you the option to easily shrug it on or off.

Most people think of purple as an uber feminine color, so remember that you can always add stronger accents.
