DIY Lymphatic Drainage

Previously, I took to the blog to lay out how it’s easier than you think to perform a lymphatic drainage massage from the comfort of your own home. All you need is some time, along with a few optional tools such as a body gua sha and some oil. From there, work from top-down to slowly give yourself a lymphatic drainage massage. This can stimulate the lymphatic system, which is responsible for removing waste and toxins from the body. By promoting lymphatic flow, you may experience a reduction in swelling and puffiness, giving your body a more sculpted look.

Fake It With Self-Tanner

Here’s the scoop on using self-tanner for a #BodyContourHack! Start by scrubbing away dead skin cells to prep your canvas. Then, grab your tanning mitt and apply that bronzy goodness, focusing on areas like sides of the abdomen, arms, and legs for that chiseled effect. Blend, blend, blend in circular motions for a flawless finish. Remember, less is more on spots like inner arms and thighs. Let it dry, and voila!

Stay Hydrated

While it may seem like drinking plenty of water is touted as a cure-all, hydration truly does have a significant impact, even on your silhouette. When your body is dehydrated, it tends to retain whatever it can, including sugar, salt, or alcohol, leading to a bloated feeling. Ensuring you drink enough water can help flush out toxins, aid in digestion, and improve circulation, all of which contribute to a healthier, more vibrant appearance.

Fix Your Posture

If you are slouching as you read this, consider this a sign to fix your posture. I know it is second nature to hunch over but doing so can cause real long-term damage to the body. If that’s not enough to convince you, let it be known that good posture can improve the alignment of your spine, which can make you appear taller and more confident. It also helps engage your core muscles, which can contribute to a more toned and sculpted midsection.

Dry Brushing

Have you heard of dry brushing? It’s similar to that of a lymphatic drainage massage, however, you use a bristled brush to exfoliate and stimulate circulation. In the morning, set aside 5 minutes to gentle brush in clockwise circles on the belly to target the thoracic lymphs. From there, gentle work downwards by brushing the legs. This process can help reduce fluid retention and puffiness, which may contribute to a firmer-looking silhouette.

Aim For 10,000 Steps

If you are able to, make it a habit of trying to reach 10,000 steps a day. You can use the health app on your iPhone as a general measure if you don’t have a smart watch or step counter. Reaching 10,000 steps a day can contribute to a healthier and more active lifestyle, which may indirectly help sculpt your silhouette over time. Walking is a low-impact cardiovascular exercise that can help burn calories, improve metabolism, and tone muscles, especially in the legs and butt.

Breathing Exercises

While we all understand the importance of exercise, have you ever considered incorporating breathing exercises into your regimen? It might sound simple, as we all know how to breathe, but specific techniques can have profound effects. These exercises can improve posture, strengthen core muscles, and increase overall body awareness. These benefits can indirectly contribute to a more sculpted silhouette by promoting better alignment and muscle engagement during other exercises. For a quick and easy guided practice, try this 11 minute regimen from Wim Hof, a world-renowned health coach.

Incorporate these lifestyle changes into your routine and you are guaranteed to get a more sculpted silhouette!
