Now that all the Christmas planning and gifts are over, we can officially begin preparing for New Year’s. Aside from a smoldering, head-turning dress (don’t forget to check out my favorites here), your makeup should be high priority. What good is a stunning dress without the perfect smokey eyes or bold pout to accommodate? As a matter of fact, I think you should put as much effort into your makeup as you do picking out what to wear.

Makeup doesn’t always have to be time consuming though, so I wanted to share 5 easy New Year’s Eve makeup ideas that will take you no time. Getting ready just got easier!

Glossy Fiery Lips + Bright Eyes

One of my go-to makeup looks when I’m pressed for time is fiery red orange lips with bright eyes. To achieve long lasting bold lips, be sure to exfoliate before hand and then prep them with a moisturizing balm (try Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask). Be sure not to apply anything too slippery otherwise your lips may not hold the color. Then, line and fill in your lips using a similar shade as your lipstick. Once you’ve done that, apply the lipstick, blot, then reapply (repeat twice), and finally, layer a high-shine gloss over it (like Glossier’s Lip Gloss). Stick to champagne-colored eyeshadows or highlighters to achieve bright, open eyes (apply it in the inner corners of your eyes).

Simple Liner + Dewy Skin

If you’re a makeup minimalist, then you’ll love this easy look – it’s all about your base! Be sure to moisturize well because your skin is everything! Then, apply a radiance primer like this one from Laura Mercier – it’ll create a smooth canvas for makeup while providing a radiant finish. If you want really dewy, glossy skin, add a drop of facial oil to your foundation and mix well before applying. Skip this step and apply a liquid highlighter if your skin leans on the oily side. The key to mastering this look is working in light, thin layers. Finish off with the thinnest swipe of liquid eyeliner and some nude lipstick.

Gold Eyes + Vampy Lips

Lately, I’ve been really into warm, coppery toned eyeshadows (Tarte’s Toasted eyeshadow palette is perfect for this look). I love how it adds the slightest hint of glamour to even the most basic outfit – and when paired with red, vampy lips, you just look fierce. This is a combo I use quite often because it’s so easy to achieve. Pick two eyeshadow shades and blend them to create a rounded, dimensional eye shape. Then, add a liquid lipstick in a vampy shade of your choice. Don’t forget to pop some highlighter onto the high points of your cheeks for an instant glow.

Metallic Smokey Lids + Rose Flushed Cheeks

If you’re more into eyes over lips, return to the ever popular metallic smokey eyelids. The options are endless here depending on your color preference. Since I lean more towards neutrals, I would go for some gold and shimmery browns. However, pink, purples, greens, and blues are all fun shades to try for New Year’s. Mix them with black or gray and blend into a shimmery dream. I love the look of metallic smokey eyes with a flushed cheeks – but nothing too pink or red. Go for dusty rose for a subtle wash of color and let the eyes do the talking.

Full Lashes + Mauve Lips

For a full-blown bedroom eye effect, lashes are your solution. First, create a strong winged eyeliner shape on your lids – that way you can exaggerate the sultry look a bit. Then layer on some falsies to really lift and open the eyes. Strips work best for this look because individual lashes aren’t dramatic enough. Be sure to apply mascara to both the top and bottom lashes and line the waterline with a nude eyeliner (white is out, so let’s just stick to nude). Then add some lip balm and apply your favorite mauve lipstick. To achieve fuller pouty lips, you can over line the lips slightly with liner but just be careful not to over do it.
