Floral embroidery has made a comeback for spring and summer, and I’m absolute loving it! With florals and especially floral embroidery back in style, it’s time to figure out how to wear the best pieces. This season floral embroidery isn’t just limited to dresses and skirts—although they’re totally welcome there. Now you can find floral embroidery on everything from luxe leather jackets or bags to booties to button-down shirts. There are so many pieces with floral embroidery that you’re bound to find the right piece to fit into your wardrobe rotation.

But how to wear it? Look no further—I’d like to consider myself in expert in all things floral, and I absolutely loved styling this pink floral skirt with black and white to really make it pop. So here’s my guide to wearing floral embroidery!

Shirts

There are so many options for shirts. A sophisticated tank can be worn for a night out paired with a shiny skirt, or for work paired with some trousers, like a basic black cigarette pant. An oversized button-down shirt with embroidery in the back is a nice surprise for such simple piece in your wardrobe. The surprising element adds a lot of personality to your lot, and you can dress it down with jeans or give it a little upgrade with some elevated pants and heels.

Jeans

Embroidered jeans aren’t just for kids anymore. When styled right, embroidered jeans can totally work for women, too! It’s all bout clean lines, and not adding too much drama to the look. You want to highlight the embroidery without adding too many elements such as ruffles or really bright colors that could make the look a little tacky. I recommend a simple white tee paired with some cozy mules—flat or heeled, depending on your mood and your destination.

Jackets

For a cool but flirty look, I love a leather jacket with embroidery. For those of you on the edgier side of the style spectrum, I recommend an embroidered jacket for a fun, femme surprise that still stays true to who you are. An embroidered jacket can go with any look, and it’s a worthy investment since it will make a great transition piece into fall!

Bags

Embroidered bags are a great beginners accessory if you’re still trying to get comfortable with the whole floral trend. They’re also great for adding a pop of color to a monochromatic look, whether it’s all black or all white.

Shoes

Make the shoes speak for themselves by going simple with your outfit. Whether you’re wearing floral embroidered heels of booties, the simpler the better. I recommend black skinny jeans and a black tank, or a black mini dress. If you’re more of a color person, make sure the colors go with the shoes but don’t get too caught up in matching the colors exactly. I also love how a blue striped blouse looks with floral embroidered sandals (or floral embroidery of any kind, actually!).
