You guys are always asking me for outfit tips – well, now’s the best time to take advantage of them get updated photos on your wall! Fall Maxi Dress

The first outfit that comes to mind is a maxi dress because it is something that never fails to look flattering and will always photograph exceptionally well. The flowy fabric allows for more movement and interest within your photos. When shopping for the perfect fall maxi dress for your family photoshoot, I suggest looking for darker colors or patterns to ensure it looks seasonally appropriate. Do not be afraid to layer too! Maxi dresses still look chic with outerwear pieces such as a moto jacket draped overtop.

If you are aiming for a more cohesive fall family photo, try color coordinating. One of the easiest combinations to achieve across the whole family is black and white because there is no need to wear exact shades. You can mix-and-match different black and white fabrications, patterns and cuts across each person to create interest.

Doing so ensures you will not look like one black-and-white blob when huddled together in a photo! If you want to go a step further, pick one accent color and just drop it in a few places like your handbag, your child’s beanie and your husband’s socks.

Cozy Layers

To capture the essence of the season, you could go all out with the fall vibes. When I think of this season, I automatically think of plaids, thick sweaters, turtlenecks, boots, and so forth. If you are shooting outside, this aesthetic is going to look absolutely adorable with the whole fam! For your own look, focus on warm layering. Cozy vests are a hit this season and will look stylish when worn overtop your outfit.

Casual Comfort

Another easy way to coordinate without looking too matchy-matchy is to all dressed up in casual pieces. Whether you opt for denim outfits, matching knit sets, jogger sets, or pajamas, this creates a commonality or foundation between each person.

For this time period, I love darker wash jeans and fairisle sweaters. You could get everyone to style their look around their own pair of dark bottoms. From there, build on each outfit to create an elevated denim look.

Autumnal Color Palette

You could also choose to go the more colorful route too, which is my personal favorite! I’m not too into being matchy matchy for family photos. But as I mentioned earlier, fall is so breathtakingly beautiful with its rich shades of orange, rust and yellow so why not dress the part. Coordinate your outfits to reflect that of the turning leaves! This is a great way to introduce some color blocking into your own outfit. If you are keeping it casual, you can always opt for a cozy knit, trousers and boots in different fall colors.

Hope this was helpful!
