Whether you are totally gung-ho on expressing patriotism or not, the one exception we can all get behind is donning the red, white, and blue come Independence Day. Whether you have plans to migrate to the beach or to have a casual cookout with the family, it is the perfect opportunity to have fun with your fashion. Rather than dressing up to look like a replica of the American flag, Nastygals’ got some really cute and chic outfits for the 4th of July celebrations this year.

A Touch of Patriotic

If you are looking to go for the more subtle patriotic look, a great way is to infuse a small touches of the American color palette into your outfit. For instance, a white dress with nautical details or blocks of blue. But if you’re not into the whole flag theme, then consider stars your best friend.

The outfit today features a star printed blouse and choker add from Nastygal, which helps add a dash of patriotism without feeling over the top. This is ideal for when you want to be festive but not overtly so. I would wear this look for cocktails or happy hour because it allows me to be comfy whether I’m outside or indoors

All Red Everything

Monochromatic looks are still as popular as ever and particularly with a focus on red, especially on the 4th of July. For an event on the more casual side, a great way to jump into this trend is with a coordinating set. This two-piece outfit is so chic and I could not help but gravitate towards it thanks to the minimal style and easy to style silhouette – very layer-able (think a denim jacket or shirt)! This look is perfect for backyard cookouts, picnics, or block parties!

All American Girl

Undoubtedly, you can never go wrong with that classic All American look by wearing some denim. Of course, you can opt for a pair of blue denim shorts and call it a day or you may decide you want to elevate a step further. For example, denim overalls or a jumpsuit does exactly that. There are so many ways to make the look interesting such as wearing a fun slogan tee to keep it trendy and laid back. I think denim is perfect for pool parties because you can easily pair them with your swimwear!

Striped Affair

Lastly, patterns are an easy way to work some festivity into your 4th of July outfit. Stripes are totally still on-trend for 2018. I can see myself wearing a white and blue striped dress, which is obviously reminiscent of the American flag. To make it more interesting, add some cool sneakers, aviator glasses, and a white belt bag. You can a little less traditional by going for a star pattern to play into the patriotic theme that way as well.

Let me know which looks you’re digging and what your July 4 plans are!
