Pastels are great for hotter temperatures because it gives an illusion feeling light and fresh. I love colors so I’m constantly gravitating towards bright shades like of yellow, orange, and red but a fresh color for summer that I’ve been really into is mint!

Mint is a statement color that’s not so obnoxious and can be worn as a neutral which makes wearing making it monochromatically really chic and fun — like this mint skirt that I paired with a statement sleeve shirt. I’m usually already a big fan of monochromatic looks, but with mint, it’s a whole new feeling. I love that the mint pieces this summer have incorporated some really fun trends that are still really hot right now, like ruffles and bell slit sleeves.

Read on to see why you should add mint to the mix of clothing in your closet this summer.

Mint Shirts

Mint colored shirts should definitely replace the white tee this summer. It’s a subtle upgrade to the staple and that’s why it’s a fresh color for summer. Don’t limit yourself to just tees though! Look to mint to provide a modern twist on the classic white button-down blouse. Also, chunky knits in this color are a must have when you want to stay warm during those cooler temperatures.

Mint Skirts

One of the best ways to wear that summer maxi skirt you’ll live in is to make sure it comes in a lighter color, maybe even a side slit, to keep things easy breezy. Refresh any mini by switching the white or light blue denim for a mint green color. For a more office appropriate look, consider a cotton pencil skirt for maximum breathability…and sophistication!

Mint Rompers

As if rompers weren’t refreshing enough as is–any one you choose is mint! To add some visual interest to this one piece, play with different necklines. Make the cold shoulder trend even cooler in the color mint or go for the always flattering halter neck. Feel free to compound with summer lace or even ruffles for some added flounce.

Mint Shoes/Sandals

Mint footwear will help to lighten up the lower half of any outfit in an unexpected way. Move over white sneakers, here comes the mint colored version. Again, a welcome spin on a summer basic.

You need flip flops in every color so why not complete the rainbow with a mint pair? Breathing new life into your shoe game can mean switching up not only the color but the fabric as well. To accent, this airy color, look for a jelly sandal or a heel with some faux fur trim. The different textures create more of a richness of the cool color.

We’ve established that mint is a fresh color for summer. Not to mention, it’s a well-deserved break from your run of the mill summer whites. Venture outside of your color zone with mint colored shirts, skirts, rompers, and shoes.
