I‘ve already expressed my affinity for vintage-inspired trends before in the first & second series of this post. However, I’ve found that luxury and fast-fashion retailers are rediscovering gems of the past just as much with their selects of older fabrics and silhouettes. It’s becoming harder to upgrade your fall wardrobe without coming across something that had prominence years ago. I guess history does repeat itself – but I’m not complaining! I’m happy to embrace these classics in a contemporary way as you’ve already recognized these last few posts.

Along with my love for red, plaids, voluminous shoulders, and logos, here are four more vintage-inspired trends you can jump on and get away with now:

Suiting

It’s been awhile since women were really into suits, but it looks like now is the time for the power suit to make a comeback. A power suit makes you feel a thousand times more confident instantly. And no, the power suit is not just for work anymore. This will be a trend you see for all types of occasions – as I wore here!

Glossy Patent Leather & Vinyl

Think boots, coats, and purses full of luster and shiny patent leather and vinyl. No other trend will bring back the 60s like this one. If you’re looking to be more understated, go for black patent leather and vinyl. But for those more daring, add colors, particularly glossy reds, blues, and yellows.

Jewel-Tone Velvet

Designers are still crushing on velvet, but this season is all about jewel tones. Velvet is falls favorite fabric, from dresses to tops to jackets and shoes. To maintain that haute couture energy, velvet will be full of rich jewel tones. Feel free to match your nail polish to pull any outfit together decadently.

Extra Long Coat

Probably the biggest trend of fall 2017, the extra long coat has already made an appearance in the summer. Keep this vintage-inspired trend going by indulging in silky fabrics or finding an extra long coat reminiscent of a trench. Something wool or plaid even works! This coat is ideal for any ensemble and will get plenty of rotation in your fall wardrobe so it’s well worth the investment.
