I cannot even begin to tell you how much of a blessing it is to live in New York City. As the hub for everything, there are so many experiences you can dive into. I honestly can’t think of a better city to be in during Valentine’s Day – thanks to the millions of things you can do. In a city that never sleeps, that ultimately means there are endless activities couples can take advantage of. I compiled some of the best NYC date night ideas for those who are looking for something new to do with your loved one – just in time for Valentine’s Day.Note: If you’re still trying to find an outfit, check out my post from yesterday here!

Botanical Garden
As a resident of New York, it is not often you can immerse yourself in nature, unless you go out of your way for it. A date strolling around one of New York’s famous botanical gardens is a great way to spend an afternoon with your significant other. Nature is so beautiful and to be able to explore that with your significant other makes it even more special. Visit the botanical garden in Brooklyn or the Bronx to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
Jazz Night
If you are looking for a more traditional date night, consider heading over to the nearest jazz bar. You can have a nice dinner and relax with some cocktails while in the company of a live jazz band. I love going to Smalls Jazz Club and Blue Note Jazz Club.
Ice Skating
Perhaps it is a bit cliche but I always think it is so much fun to go ice skating during the winter in New York. It’s a really fun outdoor activity that allows you and your date to do something else besides the usual dinner and drinks. Head to Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, or Central Park for some scenic ice skating. Afterwards, grab some warm drinks at a local cafe or cocktails at a chic bar.
Gallery Hopping
The big NYC museums like MoMa and the Guggenheim are often flooded with people at any given time of the day. If you are still keen on appreciating the arts, plan a self-guided tour through the many exhibits in Chelsea. You can check out this app to ensure you don’t miss anything.

Spa Day
Everyone needs a day of relaxation and self-care every once in awhile, so why not take advantage of the opportunity to turn it into a date. A spa day is a great way to spend a few hours in total bliss and leisure. Plus, it’s something you both can enjoy. If you are looking for luxury, check out Aire, which is heavily inspired by the ancient Roman bath houses. You can also read some of my other recommendations here.
Cooking Class
It’s important to grow as a couple so why not explore this and learn a new skill together. Taking a cooking class is a really fun way to spend some time together – and it’s so much fun (and competitive too). Eataly is constantly hosting cooking classes and other fun events that are definitely worth checking out. I’ve also always wanted to try a baking class at Mille-Feuille.
