As we countdown the remaining days of 2021, it means it is ultimately time to figure out what you plan on wearing to commemorate the final night of the year. If you tend to be more minimalistic when it comes to style, this is your chance to go all out and try a more opulent look for NYE. If you are already a more adventurous dresser, use this as an excuse to take it up another notch. Lately, I have been attending a lot of nighttime work events and a lot of these looks would  be fitting for New Year’s Eve celebrations. So whether you are attending a small house party with friends or heading out to the city to countdown the clock, do so in style. Read below to get some inspiration on New Year’s Eve outfits that are going to make a statement wherever you go.

Sequins

You cannot discuss festive New Year’s Eve outfits without bringing up sequins. The two naturally go hand-in-hand and I think they will only continue to be a yearly affair. An easy way to achieve the look is with a sequined dress – which there are so many chic options readily available for the holiday season. As far as shiny embellishments go, the neutrals (silver, gold, black) provide that old Hollywood glam but sequins also really lend themselves to brighter colors like fuschia, aqua, and more. Up the ante even further with your go-to sparkly jewelry and maybe even some metallic heels too.

Statement Sleeve

Looking to make an entrance in a less sparkly way? I got you covered with the statement sleeve dress, a trend that continues to gain momentum. This puffy sleeve maximizes volume to add drama and style to any silhouette. The voluminous material adds a lot of surface interest to your look, making it another bold option to potentially rock for your NYE festivities. As a bonus, maybe you even want to consider pairing with an equally eye-catching shoe like a platform heel. Not only does a sky high shoe provide extra height but it also elongates your body – perfect if your statement sleeve dress happens to show off a lot of leg!

Bows

This time last year, bows started to make a large comeback. It is such a charming detail that instantly adds a layer of chic to whatever it happens to be placed on. Many designers were using bows as embellishments on anything from gloves to blazers to shoes.

For some NYE outfit inspiration, I wanted to specifically highlight dresses adorned with bows. From smaller ones that adorn the neck or sleeve of a dress, to oversized bows that take up a large portion of the dress (almost á la 90s style), this trend is going to make for one heck of a classy party look. If you still want to incorporate that classic holiday sparkle, utilize the power of statement jewelry for that extra oomph.

Feathers

If you cannot tell by now, I gravitate towards party looks that are glam, luxe, and nothing short of show-stopping. Which brings me to my next NYE outfit inspiration – feathers. This is another fun embellishment that utilizes texture to enhance an outfit.

Much like the sequins, I find that feathers have a touch of that old glam, almost Marilyn Monroe-like aesthetic that is hard to resist. There are definitely levels to this party look so for something subdued, you could opt for a feather festooned evening bag.

For those who want to make more of a splash, a dress with a full feather skirt of feather trim is calling your name.

Metallic

The last trend that I thought was worthy enough to highlight for your New Year’s Eve antics is anything metallic. Flashy clothes with metallic fabric or embellishment practically begs to be taken out for a spin, especially for such a fun holiday. Reflective dresses and skirts will make you the highlight (literally) of the night. However, if this is a little too much of a look for you, you can adjust by adding an oversized blazer over your metallic party dress or maybe just opt for a metallic top and some solid colored bottoms for a more balanced outfit.
