Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate! According to the Chinese calendar, the new year is on February 1st and the zodiac of the year is the tiger. I don’t know about you, but I noticed there were so many different brands from all different sectors, but most notably fashion, that are creating gorgeous Lunar New Year capsule collections. It never ceases to amaze me how much this holiday from my own culture is getting so much spotlight and recognition. Of course, one of the ways I tend to celebrate Chinese New Year is through my outfits which naturally, involves a lot of the lucky color red. For all my friends who celebrate the holiday too, here is your fashionable guide to the Lunar New Year capsule collection you need.

Red Bottoms

Yes, you could totally pull out those Christian Louboutins to get your red in that way but I am also quite literally talking about wearing bright red pants! Statement pants in bold colors and loud patterns are becoming more trendy by the minute. Now is the perfect opportunity to break out your hot seat pants for Lunar New Year. You would think a red pant would be difficult to style around. However, it is quite easy as long as you do not overthink it! Treat your red bottoms as you would a red top by opting for a matching shirt or a simple neutral to balance the look out.

Red Envelope

On Lunar New Year it is tradition to give out red envelopes to your friends and family as gifts. This year, why not treat yourself and gift yourself a red envelope handbag to wear to your festivities? You know I support this movement! A cherry red handbag is the perfect accessory to wear in honor of Lunar New Year. It could very much be the only pop of color to your outfit if you want to keep the rest of the look subdued and neutral. Or style your red bag with other pops of red if you want to get a little more festive.

Red Dress

We love a lady in red and you can also kill two birds with one stone here. Shop red dresses for Chinese New Year and then

pull it back out 13 days later for a romantic number to wear on Valentine’s Day! No matter what the occasion is, a red dress always looks killer on anyone and frankly, I will take any excuse to wear one. As far as silhouette, you have the liberty of choosing from so many different styles. A red gown is always a viable option if you are feeling a little extra but a short red cocktail dress will do the trick too.

Red Sweater

For a more casual option to wear on CNY, you can swap the red dress for a red sweater and some simple pants. After all, we are only in the beginning of February so it might make sense wearing something a little bit more warm and cozy. To pair with your sweater, you could also consider adding in some metallic accessories like gold or silver to represent good fortune and prosperity.

Rock the Tiger

My last suggestion does not necessarily need to be red! Since we are entering into the year of the tiger, this may be another fashion-forward way to ring in the new year. As I mentioned earlier, there are actually a lot of brands releasing Lunar New Year capsule collections featuring the tiger icon but you could also literally look for elevated tiger stripe tops or bottoms to channel the same energy. Feel free to add pops of red in this look too via footwear or even a red lip.
