Recently, Chinese streetwear has gone viral thanks to some epic TikTok videos showcasing some fashionable people walking down the street in slow motion. I was blown away by each person’s poise, intense gaze and of course – their incredible outfits. All of these looks are unique, a little bit edgy, impeccably tailored and right on trend. These Chinese street style videos blew up so much and in turn started another trend in which creators attempt to mirror these videos and of course I had to participate! Here are my 4 Chinese Streetwear Inspired looks and where to shop similar items!

Black & Leather

Naturally, I had to start with my take on an all black look. All of the Chinese street style TikTok videos featured these dark monochrome outfits that made the wearers look like they stepped right out of an action movie set. One of the key tricks to all black is to play with different textures. If you want to recreate the look, start with slouchy pants and pair it with a long sleeve top. There is a lot of emphasis on heavy, eye catching jewelry and details such as hardware, chains and studs. To complete the look, you can add studded ankle boots and some futuristic sunglasses.

This next inspired look also merges with what is trending on Instagram these days – sweatpants (but make it chic)! Can we all just rejoice that sweatpants have become stylish, so much so that an iconic Chinese street style queen or king can wear them without hesitation and look so freaking cool? To make this look your own, play up juxtapositions by throwing on a super oversized blazer to dress it up. Then finish it off with a designer crossbody bag, a minimal baseball cap and some chunky sneakers.

Denim Jumpsuit

Jean overalls or jumpsuits are not just for farmers. This contemporary pair I have had in the closet screamed a perfect fit for this TikTok compilation! The overalls itself are very long, flared and have this really fun slit at the bottom of each leg. To make it a bit edgier, style it with a sports bra underneath and a large belt to pull in the waist. Lastly, add a matching denim bucket hat and some geometrical sunglasses.

This last look is ideal if you want to run errands but also want to look so darn good doing so. Start with lightweight palazzo pants because they’re like elevated pajama pants. To keep the look relatively casual, toss on a graphic tee or a form-fitting solid tank. Add that Chinese streetwear edge with a knit beanie and a tote bag for contrast. Of course, nowadays, most looks are not complete without a mask! I thought this simple solid black silk face mask was the perfect fit.
